Having studio space in Building 30 ~ Magnuson Park excites and inspires me to continue my journey as an artist. Currently, it’s with pastels and pottery. Throughout my life, I have done many types of art. As a child, inspiration came from my artistic mother, who did portraits in oil. She posted on our refrigerator the quote from Hippocrates: “Life is short, Art is long." I understand that now more than ever.
In 1996, the Scientific Illustration Program at UW gave me the foundation to represent things accurately in drawing and painting. Working in watercolor, ink, colored pencil and now pastels has given me a broad range of creative experience.
Since 2002 I’ve been making pottery at Montlake Community Ceramic Studio. There, I’ve enjoyed learning from other artists who share my passion to create.
